An intelligent energy management system (EMS) was installed at four locations – the Hundsheim sports ground, the Regelsbrunn fire station, the Scharndorf fire station and the Scharndorf municipal office.

Even before the EMS was implemented, these buildings were already equipped with pioneering energy technology: both photovoltaic systems and air heat pumps were available. The integration of the intelligent EMS now enables these systems to be used much more efficiently. The air heat pumps are preferentially activated by the new system when sufficient self-generated solar power is available. In this way, the self-consumption of PV electricity is maximized and the use of grid electricity is minimized – which not only significantly reduces the operating costs of the buildings, but also protects the environment.

The Scharndorf municipal office also has an NEA storage system (emergency power or backup power system). This storage system allows surplus PV electricity to be temporarily stored and used at different times. This allows the use of self-generated electricity to be further increased – especially at times when the sun is not shining but the energy demand is still high. The EMS also controls this storage system intelligently: it charges it preferentially with surplus PV electricity and discharges it specifically when no direct solar production is possible in order to continue to minimize grid consumption.

Another central component of the project is the comprehensive energy monitoring. It provides a transparent overview of energy consumption, energy production and the state of charge of the storage system. This data is not only used to optimize energy use, but also to raise awareness: Employees of the municipalities and members of the respective associations gain an insight into the energy flow through the system and are thus sensitized to the sustainable use of energy.

Due to the positive experience and high effectiveness of the system, there are already plans to extend it to other municipal buildings in the region. This is a further step towards driving forward the regional energy transition, reducing energy consumption in the long term and further increasing the proportion of renewable energies.

The project impressively demonstrates how targeted digitalization and intelligent control of existing technologies can make a significant contribution to the energy transition at municipal level. KEM Carnuntum is thus setting a strong example for climate-friendly, economical and future-proof energy use in public facilities.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Flagship project: intelligent energy management in public buildings An innovative project to optimize energy…

[33

post-7975","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-kem-carnuntum-en
["GET
