Bee-friendly planter boxes for the IMS Lanzendorf

Build your own school garden and learn interesting facts about wood processing, the importance of biodiversity and climate-friendly gardening? The KLAR! Lanzendorf+ project “Bee-friendly plant boxes” makes it possible! Following the example of the “Kischta Gärtle” from Obst- und Gartenkultur Vorarlberg, pupils from IMS Lanzendorf built 40 plant boxes. The Caritas Lanzendorf day care center made sure that everything went like clockwork. The “wood group” had already been working on the project for several weeks and had made building templates.

CLEAR! Manager Sonja Wirgler initiated the project together with IMS Director Monika Potzmann. Over the next few weeks, the boxes will be creatively designed and filled with soil. Then it’s time to plant and design the school garden. The Adcura retirement home in Maria Lanzendorf will be involved in this part of the project. In this way, several generations discover the joy of gardening together and the senior citizens are sure to have many helpful tips for caring for the plants. At the end of the school day, the children take their bee-friendly plant boxes home to look after them over the vacations. In the fall, they once again provide a habitat for insects in the school garden and serve to impart practical knowledge about nature in as many lessons as possible.
