The municipalities of the KLAR! Lanzendorf+
The municipality of Lanzendorf
The municipality of Lanzendorf borders directly on Schwechat and covers an area of 4.54 square kilometers. The town is divided into the cadastral communities of Oberlanzendorf and Unterlanzendorf.
The banks of the Schwechat with the Lanzendorfer Au are a popular recreational area. There is also an insect nature trail in the municipality, which explains the importance of small animals for biodiversity and agriculture.
The municipality’s sights include a former mill from the 16th century, which is located in Unterlanzendorf. The former castle in Oberlanzendorf is now home to a Caritas care facility.

Maria Lanzendorf
The 169-hectare Maria Lanzendorf borders directly on Lanzendorf. The Petersbach flows into the Schwechat in the municipal area, and the Wiener Neustädter Kanal also runs through the village.
Maria Lanzendorf is famous for the parish and pilgrimage church of the Sorrowful Mother of God. It was first mentioned in a document in 1145 as “Kirche Maria auf der Heyd”. The Calvary, an artificial hill, was built more than 500 years later.
The “Weg der Ziegelbarone”, a popular cycle path in the south-east of Vienna, leads directly through Maria Lanzendorf.
Zwölfaxing
With an area of 6.76 square kilometers, Zwölfaxing is the largest municipality in KLAR! Lanzendorf+. The Kalter Gang, Schwechat and Mitterbach rivers flow through the village.
Completed in 2022, the flood protection along the Schwechat not only protects the town from flooding, but is also a popular local recreation area. The cycle path along the stream is popular: It is part of the Triestingau cycle path, which leads from the Vienna city limits to Schönau an der Triesing.
Zwölfaxing is also known for the Burstyn barracks, which used to be home to a tank battalion. One of the sights in Zwölfaxing is the Trinity Column on Himberger Straße.
