How do I prepare for a blackout?
What needs to be considered?
What do I have to take care of myself?
Where can I get information and help?
On 19.01.2023, Mr. Thomas Hauser, Managing Director of the Lower Austrian Civil Protection Association, confronted the population of Göttlesbrunn-Arbesthal with the following questions in order to increase “help for self-help”:
- Can you continue to work in the event of a power cut?
- If the power goes out, can you get home from work without any problems?
- Do you work in an emergency organization in the event of a power failure?
- What is your living situation like?
In addition, the three municipalities have developed an internal blackout strategy together with the volunteer fire departments and the KEM. To this end, critical infrastructures were identified and a plan drawn up to determine which investments are necessary in order to maintain various infrastructure facilities as well as possible in the event of a blackout. Work is currently underway to implement the individual measures.
