KEM Cycle Tour 2025 – Cycling through the entire region
This year’s KEM Bike Tour took place on September 19, 2025 as part of European Mobility Week. The aim of the event was to promote cycling as a sustainable means of transport and to show that commuting between the municipalities of the KEM is not only possible, but can also be fun. At the same time, the KEM’s numerous energy projects were brought into focus.
The tour started at Heidentor and first led to the official starting point at SV Hundsheim, where participants were able to view the 39 kWp photovoltaic system. From there, the tour continued along picturesque country lanes lined with wind turbines to Petronell. Here, the impressive 110 kWp PV system of the Roman city of Carnuntum and the photovoltaic system of the volunteer fire department were on the program.
The final stop was the Scharndorf fire brigade, which also has a PV system together with a storage system and an air heat pump. Over a light snack, the participants then had the opportunity to discuss energy issues and find out more about sustainable energy supply in the region.
The KEM cycle tour impressively demonstrated how mobility, environmental protection and renewable energies can go hand in hand and motivated the participants to become active themselves.
