New energy community in the KEM

Our KEM region has a new energy community.

Hill-Strom EEG is open to all households that receive their electricity from the Bad Deutsch-Altenburg substation. In our KEM, this includes all households in Hundheim and Petronell-Carnuntum as well as parts of Wildungsmauer.

Energy communities have the advantage that PV electricity generated in the region can also be consumed directly in the region. And at more favorable conditions for everyone involved. In the Hill-Strom EEG, PV owners can feed in their surplus electricity (if there are consumers) for 8ct/kWh. Consumers only pay 10 ct/kWh of electricity in the EEG (if PV electricity is available). In addition, 28% of the grid costs are waived for the electricity drawn from the EEG. The 2ct difference is spent on processing the invoicing etc. For the time when no PV electricity is available in the EEG (e.g. at night), each member continues to have their own individual electricity contract.

There are currently 190 members in Hill-Strom EEG and around 60,000 kWh of electricity is fed into the grid every month. And the number is constantly increasing. You too can benefit and sign up!
