Zwölfaxing energy advice campaign

On February 10 and 11, 2025, Ralf Roggenbauer from Energiepark Bruck/Leitha and KLAR! manager Sonja Wirgler were out and about in Zwölfaxing as part of an energy consultation campaign sponsored by Energie NÖ.

Switching from gas to a different heating technology was a concern for many households. After an extensive assessment, the expert recommended – where possible – heat pumps in combination with a PV system and a buffer storage tank. This system can not only heat, but is also a helpful tool against overheating in summer. Insulation deficits were highlighted in older houses in particular: it is advisable to insulate the top floor and basement ceiling sufficiently. This saves heating costs and reduces the heating of rooms in summer.

The thermographic camera revealed thermal bridges: A particularly large amount of heat is lost in the glass tiles that were often used on the façade in the past. Fixed glazing provides a remedy. The thermal imaging camera also detected leaking windows and doors: Having the windows and doors adjusted is a relatively inexpensive measure and helps to save heating and cooling costs.

External roller blinds were installed in many houses to protect against overheating in summer. One resident reported that it is around 5 degrees cooler indoors on hot summer days since the installation.
