The Club of Rome Carnuntum Club Evening on April 7, 2025 offered several highlights.
The first part of the event was organized by psychologist Thomas Brudermann with the exciting workshop “On the trail of climate excuses”. In his humorous presentation, he explained why we “talk ourselves into” climate-damaging behavior and which measures would actually have a big impact. He presented exciting facts such as the fact that recycled waste grease is not the solution to producing “sustainable” fuels. Calculations have shown that a mountain of wood chips as high as Mount Everest would be needed to produce fuel for a single transatlantic flight. It would be much more sensible and healthier to focus on a plant-based diet, as the graphic on the effectiveness of climate-friendly decisions shows.
After a lively discussion, the official part of the event came to an end with the conclusion of the climate course. 15 participants gained comprehensive information on climate-related topics in seven full-day modules. The climate course was organized by the Club of Rome Carnuntum in cooperation with the Climate Protection Academy and coordinated by the Regional Development Association Römerland Carnuntum.
One of the graduates of the climate course is Lanzendorf’s Deputy Mayor Heinz Blocher. Congratulations!
