Clean heating for all 2026

For low-income households, heating replacement can be subsidized by up to 100 % can be subsidized!

Funding can be granted up to the following maximum cost limits:

  • District heating: €28,469
  • Pellet wood chip boiler: € 36,180
  • Installation of air heat pump: € 25,586
  • Installation of brine/water heat pump: € 37,550

Prerequisites for funding include belonging to the lowest two income deciles, receiving social benefits or being exempt from ORF contributions. You can find more details at www.sauber-heizen.at read more.

Step by step to clean heating

  1. Registration at www.sauber-heizen.at until 31.12.26
  2. Positive assessment the state funding agency that all requirements have been met
  3. Implementation of an energy consultation (coordinated by the state funding agency) incl. support in obtaining offers and submitting applications
  4. Application + approval
  5. Project realization within 9 months
  6. Commissioning and final billing
  7. Payment of the grant

Why change the heating system?

  • Fossil heating systems (oil and gas heating) pollute the environment
  • Renewable heating systems are more ecological and efficient – they save energy & energy costs
  • The switch from fossil fuels to renewable heating systems (heat pumps, pellets, logs, local or district heating) is currently still being for low-income households with very high subsidy rates (up to 100%)
