Showcase project: Emergency power storage for the Wildungsmauer fire brigade
The Wildungsmauer fire brigade is taking an important step towards energy independence and crisis preparedness: the successful commissioning of a modern emergency power storage system will ensure the fire department’s operational readiness in the long term, even during power outages. During commissioning, the firefighters were also trained in how to operate the storage tank so that nothing can go wrong in an emergency.
The new battery storage system with a capacity of 94.4 kWh complements the existing photovoltaic system with a capacity of 38.3 kWp. This enables a large part of the company’s own energy requirements to be covered sustainably. Excess energy generated is temporarily stored in the storage system and is immediately available when needed.
This self-sufficient energy supply is particularly important in crisis situations, such as large-scale power outages. Emergency vehicles, communication systems and the fire department infrastructure can therefore continue to operate reliably.
The project underlines the importance of modern energy solutions for emergency organizations and also serves as a model for other municipalities in the region. The project was supported by KEM Carnuntum.
