Willow tepees for the KLAR! On the Leithaberge
In the school gardens of KLAR! Am Leithaberge, a special idea has been put into practice: Willow tepees are living structures made of willow rods that are not only visually appealing, but also offer a wide range of possibilities. They invite children to play, hide and linger and provide shade on hot summer days.
The special thing about the willow tipis is that they are built together. This idea was also at the heart of the implementation: employees of the municipal building yard, committed pupils and teachers worked together to build the tipis. They were supported by KLAR! supervisor Julia Jüly and Sandra Karanitsch-Ackerl from the Römerland Carnuntum regional development association.
The first willow tepees were planted in the gardens of the elementary school, kindergarten and after-school care center in Trautmannsdorf and the elementary school in Götzendorf in mid-March. Numerous young and old helpers were enthusiastically involved and made the planting a special experience for everyone involved.
At the beginning of April, further willow tipis were built and planted at the Mannersdorf elementary school and the Au elementary school. Now the tipis can be observed as they grow and flourish. By fall, they should be really stable and ready to be tied together. The pupils are looking forward to watching the changes and soon having a great new place to spend time.
