Read with Birgit – promoting reading enjoyment and environmental awareness
“Read with Birgit” is a series of events organized by the Marc Aurel library in Petronell. Volunteer reader Birgit uses age-appropriate books to introduce young listeners to the joys of reading. But that’s not all: the latest event on 20 January 2025 also focused on raising awareness of climate and environmental issues.
With the two books “Die Klimaschweine” and “Café Käfer”, topics such as climate protection and biodiversity were addressed in an age-appropriate way. The exciting and affectionate presentation of this content was very well received by the young readers. This not only encouraged a love of reading, but also raised awareness of nature and the need to protect it. An important first step towards inspiring the next generation to think and act sustainably.
The books were sponsored by KEM as part of a cooperation between KEM Carnuntum and the Marc Aurel library. The successful collaboration made it possible to bring valuable literature on important environmental topics directly to the children.
